Aussie Pairs
Team of two with four bowls each. Australian pairs allows both people on a team to play lead (1st) and skip (back). At the start of the game, the starting skips are at the other end to the leads. A coin is tossed to decide which team starts with the jack.
When the game commences, the starting lead sends out the jack and the starting skip aligns the jack on its centre. On the first end of the game, the leads start off with 2 bowls each. Then the skips play their 4 bowls. Then the leads complete the end with their final 2 bowls. This involves more walking than normal pairs, as the players have to swap ends after ends two and six. Players cannot change playing position.
Triples
Team of three, with each player having 3 bowls and plays them singly and in turn. At the start of the game, the third players (skips) are at the other end to players one and two. A coin is tossed to decide which team starts with the jack.
When the game commences, player one sends out the jack and the skip aligns the jack on its centre. The first players of each team then deliver their bowls alternatively, followed by the second. After this, the players swap ends so that the skips (player 3) can send their final 3 bowls. Players cannot change playing position.
